Vulvodynia
Vulvodynia is a common related condition in IC/BPS patients who struggle with multiple pain conditions. Estrogen atrophy, tight pelvic floor muscles and/or pudendal neuralgia are often the driving force behind a sensitive, painful vulva. While addressing the root problem (i.e. tight muscles, GSM etc.), products that can calm and soothe the tender, sensitive skin may help. Doctors can also prescribe a variety of compounded creams (i.e. lidocaine, amitryptiline, baclofen) that may provide a pain reduction effect.
