Synopsis: If you struggle with bladder or prostate sensitivity, you've probably already learned that some foods can badly provoke more symptoms and discomfort. ICN President Jill Osborne discusses those foods which you should avoid if you are struggling with interstitial cystitis and/or prostatitis.

Thank You so very much for the helpful info.. I have recently started drinking Pomegranate juice and pour it over ice to help dilute it! It is supposed to help remove toxins. IS there something that would work better? I have just been diagnosed and I also have RSD/CRPS, full body, which does include vulvodynia. So I have chronic pain 24/7. Any suggestions, such as these in your video are of a great help!
ICN RESPONSE: There are no "toxins" to remove in IC patients. IC is more of an injury to the bladder and drinking any juice that is high in acid or alkalinity is probably going to irritate you much more and trigger IC symptoms. The best things that you can drink, particularly when your bladder is symptomatic, is water or milk. For fruit juices, you can try a pear or blueberry juice! Personally, I think pomegranate juice is WAY too harsh for most IC bladders, even when diluted and it could be contributing to your pain and discomfort. - Jill

When havin a IC flare, is it possible for you lower back and also legs to hurt? I am on Elmiron 100mg, and have been on it for almost 4 months. I've noticed some improvement but not alot. I am also on Cysta Q. Would you suggest something else that would help! Thanks so much.
ICN RESPONSE: Yes, your lower back and/or upper legs can hurt during a flare, sometimes from referred pain and other times from muscle tension. Remember, too, that it takes time for the bladder to respond to therapies and that diet modification is vital. You're wasting your time if you're still drinking coffees, sodas, etc. etc. If you'd like to talk, explore options, etc.. please call our support line at 707-538-9442 or, better yet, sign up for a coaching session!

I find, as Jill said in the video, that diluted baby pear or apple juice is very bladder friendly - I normally stick with water or milk but occasionally have these as a treat.

I drink "Low acid" orange juice. Is this really "low " in acid? And
is it contributing to my IC pain?
ICN Response: Here are two threads from the IC Network Support Forums that might be helpful! "Low Acid Orange Juice BEWARE!" and "Low Acid Orange Juice"

Your video is helpful. But I have a couple questions. I was told that decaf green tea is okay to drink. Is that true? Also my IC doctor had on his list of "okay" foods - flat soda. Wondered your thoughts on that. I also wondered if you meant Splenda when you said to cut out artificial sweeteners. Thanks for answering these questions. I just discovered your website and it is very helpful!
ICN RESPONSE: The challenge with green tea, whether its regular or decaf, is that it is also very acidic. We don't recommend any green tea. As to Splenda and other artificial sugars, we think its best to avoid them all.

I have experienced low back, glutes and back of thigh pain. I finally began modifying my diet (eliminating coffee and soda and avoiding my personal trigger foods). I also received four treatments of DMSO inserted in my bladder via catheter. I actually feel well with very little flares. This website has been a blessing to me, especially reading that I am not alone with this condition. The food lists have also been very helpful. My husband purchased one of the coffee drinks, Kaffree Roma, for Christmas for me, of which I tolerate well. Anxious to try some of the low acid ground types! Thank you, ICN!

I was also wondering about Pomagranite juice. Sounds acidy! Glad I found this website. I've been doing acupuncture and cystaQ and just water to drink. No bananas or avocados for me!

Thank you so much! I thought I was going crazy! I felt like I had a chronic bladder infection and WHY did my bladder feel like someone took it out drop kicked it then placed it back? I was at my wits end and becoming depressed because every website I went on had no cures. This is going to be a huge help! God Bless you!

This site is a blessing. I sent the press release to our local newspapers, today. Very few people and some doctors are aware of this disabling disease. I have had a neurostimulator implant for over three years, with very little pain relief. Following the diet is essential to avoid flares. I have learned the hard way. Thank you very much for this site. It is a God send|!!!!
