Calcium and Vitamin D with Aloe
Lab tests show that calcium carbonate is actually better at raising the pH of foods and beverages than calcium glycerophosphate (the active ingredient in Prelief, an AkPharma brand). You can take the capsules whole or open them and sprinkle the powder onto any food or drink to make it less acidic. If you find that our freeze-dried, Whole-Leaf Aloe Vera Capsules bother your stomach, taking just one of our Calcium and Vitamin D capsules along with your aloe vera capsules often helps.
Recent research has shown that people with autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma) and fibromyalgia are often deficient in calcium and vitamin D. Women who supplement their diets with calcium and vitamin D have improved bone structure and bone strength, which can help prevent or delay the onset of osteoporosis. Calcium is involved in several steps of the body's blood clotting mechanism, regulates fluid passage through cell membranes, and affects the regulation of nerve impulses and muscle contractions. It has also been shown to help reduce hypertension by normalizing intracellular calcium.
Studies have shown that taking vitamin D may reduce the incidence of certain cancers (ovary, breast, colon) by as much as 50%. That could be because vitamin D strengthens the immune system and controls cell growth. The combination of calcium and vitamin D was used in a study to inhibit the formation of polyps in certain types of colon tissue.
Vitamin D also works synergistically to enhance the absorption of calcium. Vitamin D has been shown to prevent the development of Type 1 diabetes in animals.
Numerous studies have linked Vitamin D intake to reduced risk and prevalence of multiple sclerosis. This association was found specifically in women. It isn't clear how vitamin D helps the body resist MS, but experimental research suggests that brain white matter is responsive to the vitamin.
If you have impaired kidney function, you should talk with your doctor before beginning a calcium or magnesium supplement regimen. The levels of these minerals in your blood stream are controlled by your kidneys.
As a dietary supplement, take two capsules twice a day or as directed by a qualified healthcare provider. Each serving (2 capsules) contains 500 mg of calcium carbonate, 200 IU of Vitamin D, 40 mg of aloe vera powder, and 3 mg of silicon dioxide as a drying agent.
Contains 90 Capsules.
