This issue took a long time for us to develop and write. Why? Because pain care is so complex in the IC patient. Some of us have pain from our bladder wall, while others have pain from surrounding muscle. Still others have nerve pain, the result of neurosensitization. Thus, they are all treated very differently. Your job as an IC patient is to be a detective. You have to work with your doctor to determine where your pain is coming from, the methods which help fight pain most effectively and, of course, you have to be dedicated and willing to try therapies. Self-help, what you do at home to fight your pain, will play a huge role in how successful you are in controlling and reducing your pain. Good luck! - Jill O.
